To educate and train personnel in the search and rescue system to efficiently perform duties as Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator (SMC) or SMC Staff.
Course Objective
Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
– Understanding of global Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, encompassing key objectives, principles, and the importance of international collaboration.
– Understanding of the essential communication systems required for search and rescue missions, including distress communication systems, COSPAS-SARSAT systems which is satellite-based positioning, and various communication devices that survivors may possess, such as radios, mobile phones, and satellite phones.
– Having knowledge and understanding of the data and document management system for SAR operations.
– Having knowledge and understanding of the search planning process by considering various factors. Additionally, they will learn about estimating the area in distress situations and predicting the area where survivors may move after a distress incident, calculating search effort, and determining search probability.
Entry Requirement
- Understanding of the Aviation Technical English fluency level
- Be passed Search and Rescue Administration course or SAR Services and National SAR Plan
- Must be an authorized officer to conduct aeronautical or maritime search and rescue
