“Mrs. Manaporn Charoensri” Praises CATC, Due To the Fact that the CATC Has Stepped Up to the Second Rank of the (Popular) Government University, under the Field of Aviation-Aviation Business that Students Want to Enroll the Most in the Year of 2023. The Ranking Is Made by Thailand Education Ranking (TER).
Mrs. Manaporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, said that the Civil Aviation Training Center, or CATC, a state enterprise organization, operating under the Ministry of Transport, was an aviation training organization specialized in producing and developing aviation personnel for the country and the region for more than 63 years. The CATC was ranked as one of the most popular universities in Thailand 2023 for the field of aviation/aviation business/aviation technology, under the category of (popular) government university that students wanted to enroll the most. CATC was ranked by the website: Thailand Education Ranking (TER). In 2023, CATC stepped up to the second rank, going up from the third rank in 2021. In 2022, CATC stayed in the fifth rank. According to fact above, it could be seen that CATC has been maintaining its standards of education and services in continuity. During the previous situation of the COVID-19 spread, CATC was able to produce and send aviation personnel, in a sufficient number, into the aviation industry to meet the domestic needs in the country. Furthermore, CATC has been providing excellent aircraft maintenance engineering services, aircraft services, and other affairs relevant to aviation affairs, under the international standards.
The Ministry of Transport was proud of CATC; it believed that CATC was able to step up to stay in the first rank. The Ministry of Transport was ready to fully support the development of CATC. The CATC’s main strength was that it was approved and certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as the Platinum Member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS project. The status of the Platinum Membership was considered the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Membership at the highest level. The CATC is 1 of the 4 aviation training organizations in the Asia Region, and it is 1 of the 9 aviation training organizations from the global members. The CATC is the first and the only aviation training organization in Thailand, under the approval and certification by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), which is still enhancing competencies and potentials in producing aviation personnel in order to propel the country’s aviation industry according to the government policies, regarding the pushing of Thailand forward to become the aviation hub of the region.
Miss Pukkanut Makchouy, CATC President, mentioned that CATC offered courses and trainings to instruct students and aviation personnel in the ground training courses and flight training programs, ranging from High Vocational Certificate Program, Vocational Certificate Program, Diploma Program or equivalent programs, Bachelor’s Degree Program, Master’s Degree Program, to Doctoral Degree Program. Moreover, CATC was ready to leverage its standards toward the aviation training standards at the global level, through important projects, such as the Project on the Construction of Hua Hin Flight Training Center Building and the Construction Supplement with Durable Goods (with the investment budget of 414.40 million Baht); this Hua Hin Flight Training Center Building Construction Project was expected to be completed in 2026, and the Project on the Flight Training: Single-Engine Helicopter (Robinson R44) (with the investment budget for the year 2023-2024, in the amount of 37.90 million Baht/1 Helicopter); the Project was in the stage of the request for registration and documents for the Robinson R44 Helicopter, for the inspection and approval from the CAAT. It was expected that the flight operations would be conducted in December 2024. In addition, the Project on the Flight Training: Single-Engine Helicopter (Robinson R44) was implemented (the investment budget for the year 2024-2025, in the amount of 75.80 million Baht/2 Helicopters). The currently important projects that CATC are propelling forward would be able to support the flight training programs to sufficiently meet the needs in the aviation industry of the country, and extend the courses and programs toward the regional level training. The current trends of aviation business and tourism played an important role in the development of Thailand’s economy for a revival.
For students and people who are interested in studying aviation subjects in the CATC’s courses and programs, at present, CATC admissions are opening to new students in the Academic Year of 2025. The CATC offers ground training courses, such as Bachelor of Science Program, Bachelor of Engineering Program, Bachelor of Technology Program, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License (AMEL) Course, Vocational Certificate Course, Pre-Aeronautical Engineering Course, Certificate Course in AMEL Skills, and Master of Management Program. For applying, please visit the website: https://admission.catc.or.th. The CATC admissions don’t involve the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS). In 2025, CATC is planning to open the Doctoral Degree Program in Management in October 2025.
CATC was ranked in the aspect of education by Thailand Education Ranking (TER). TER is a website that ranks, introduces, reviews, and focuses on the outstanding universities, interesting courses, and study programs. On this website, reviews are made in terms of where to further studies at the university or higher educational level (government and private universities). The project on ranking the most popular universities in Thailand was implemented under the ranking criteria as follows;
- Measure the popularity level by counting popular votes from school students, university students, and people throughout the country;
- Collect data and sort answers according to the question categories, depending on the student interests, such as popular universities for studying Engineering, Management-Accounting, and Communication Arts;
- Collect and sort data according to university groups, such as government university group, private university group, and Rajabhat University group; and
- Collect data and announce the ranking results once a year. *The data would be collected from March-December and the voting results would be announced from January-February. The ranking data would be a part of information provided to students, their parents, and people throughout the country. The information would be used in the decision making for furthering studies at the university level (higher educational level).
